Batman: The Brave and the Bold: Episode 10

Today’s episode is a regular Dora the Explorer color explosion of YELLOW and RED, and GREEN… only Batman will not take the time to teach you the Spanish words for said colors, even if he DOES know them! Dammit! (Oh, and great ready for an intergalactic smackdown as Batman goes cosmic this episode on Despero’s butt!)

Oh Batman it’s time to learn your colors today as we see an episode that is filled with the color YELLOW and RED and GREEN!
Yellow as Dr. Fate’s helmet and costume scheme as Batman and the good Doctor pay a visit to a soon to be ailing library of the mystical (apparently whose architecture was designed by Fred Perry) to stop an evil bookworm out to “borrow” every book on the human experience (once you read “Election 08 : The Year We Picked Change” you can’t stop reading about the human experience), and he doesn’t care with the library’s charging for late fees on said books should they “fail” to return! Oh, and in true Brave and the Bold manner Dr. Fate delivers a two fisted “prescription” to said villain when he snatches Fate’s mask and… hmm… not the same guy who was Fate from that Superman Adventures episode…

Anyway the highlight of the episode is Despero coming close to taking control of the Green Lantern Corps over at Oa (now redesigned and pimped out to look like a giant Green Lantern planet/ring/lantern thing… gee, nice makeover) only for much beloved Green Lantern Hal Jordan to grind Despero’s plan to a halt by apparently vaporizing the now brainwashed corps (packed with several hot babes… yeah, we don’t see any hot women heroes in this show do we, only guys) along with himself… sorry, if you thought this was the episode one of our half dozen or so favorite Batman Brave and the Bold team ups would occur and it’d be a Batman/Hal Jordan Green Lantern team up boy are you sorely disappointed. His ring, however, went out to Earth and fetched Batman to Oa, only to find the planet is rather empty with only three Lanterns in the brig… who just so happen are going to be the three that have to help Batman stop Despero and his ultimate plan to take over the giant planet sized Green Lantern Mogo… Mogo?... anyway stop Despero from taking over the planet Lantern and using it as his weapon to take over the galaxy through mass brainwashing of whole planets.

So who is Batman (who quickly is turned into Bat Lantern, the Green Bat Lantern… OK, that’s kinky so forget I said that.
Well there’s Guy Gardner, the hothead who has yet to meet the love of his future life Ice (complete total polar opposite of him… how the hell did they EVER hook up only for Ice to die sometime afterward)? He’s locked up because he started a full scale war in the mess hall because somebody delivered him poached eggs instead of scrambled.
Then there’s the Green Lantern equivelant of JarJar Binks to some, G’nort, who was locked away because he… locked himself away.
Then there’s the still not yellow attired/yellow ringed Sinestro, still a member of the Corps (though maybe not for long as he seems to be pushing his luck with the Guardiains).
They all team up with Batman… and Batman nearly instantly takes a shine to Sinestro… yeah, that so can’t go wrong can’t it.

On the bright side unlike that JarJar is going to be a hero episode at least they really do make G’Nort the hero as he turns the tide in the end and does the “easiest but most important” job to save the day. That’s gotta be good, right? Also with Batman packing Green Lantern power (but not a ring) he takes it to Despero and really brings it in the end. Nice.
Too bad you’re going to have to bliss out on this episode for awhile as next week there is again NO BATMAN THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD just so they can show off a new Poke’mon movie… y’know, I am so over making excuses for Poke’mon movies and just have to admit they stopped being good way back with it’s last real theatrical showing Poke’mon 2000… and boy was that a LONG LONG TIME AGO!!
Well, enjoy this one while you can even if there was no Batman/Hal Jordan Green Lantern tean up… maybe in the future… oh, and again no major female character team up… yet. Come on, all this guy only team ups is wearing me down majorly! Anyway 5 out of 5, of course!
