What are the best T.V. series of 2006? The list may suprise you.

Television gets better and better every year.  Pop Syndicate’s very own Liz Thompson runs down the best series currently on the boob tube.  It’s a varied list with more than a few surprises.

10. Jericho

At first, I found this preachy and a little boring, but I love the premise of the apocolypse and how we would deal. I believe this show is true to those dealings and how to survive. This show has gotten better over the episodes and they have woven a series of events that keep me on the edge of my seat. Now, put that mayor back in power before Gray ruins the town! ;)

9. The OC

Last year, this fell off my top 10 list because it was horrible. Marissa is now gone and the show has revitalized! I love the Ryan/Taylor pairing and that is why it is back on the list. Their chemistry was odd at first but is sweet and reassuring. Plus, the five stages of grief for summer was a hoot. Smallville. As I said, I love anything to do with comic book heroes. I love the look into the life of Clark before he lived in metropolis and before he was superman. I personally give Chole the side-kick of the year award.

8. Ugly Betty

Who doesn’t love this show? It is cute and heart warming and gives me something to smile about after a long week. It gives us all hope that we can do something big with our lives, even if we aren’t the prettiest, the smartest or the best. Betty is the new hero of our generation!

7. Gilmore Girls

This used to be one of my favorite shows. Last year almost ruined it for me, but the dialogue and wit are still there for my favorite mother-daughter team this year. I love how these characters have advanced over the years and can’t wait to see what the future holds for them.

6. Grey’s Anatomy

It is my comic relief for the week with outlandish things that happen to Ms. Grey and her cohorts. I know this is seen as a drama but I just have to laugh at the melodrama of it all. Every time I watch this show I feel happy when I am done.

5. Lost

This year hasn’t held my attention, but at the end of the year last year (the season finale was the best season finale in the history of TV, besides 24), I was dumbfounded. Lost really knows how to mix the unknown with flash backs. They have us wanting more all the time. Now that kate “picked” sawyer… how will jack ever get some love?

4. Heroes

I love anything that has to do with super powers or supernatural unknown. This show has many characters and story lines that leave us wondering who is good, who is bad and who is in the grey. What makes this show so good is the interweaving of super powers, how to deal with it and salvation. Plus, the killer cliff-hangers don’t hurt.

3. Veronica Mars

I love this show because every week I am surprised by the quick dialogue and the depth of the central characters. Many people think this is just a new Nancy Drew but Veronica has depth and power Nancy never had! Plus, the plot twists and clues each week keep you coming back for more. Veronica has a pixie magic all her own!

2. Friday Night Lights

What more could you want in a story about real people with real problems that transcend the football field? This small town has its drama, comedy and football and the episodes and acting get better each week. It is the absolute best drama on TV and best new show of the year! Go Panthers!

1. 24

With a non-stop season, action packed hours and twists galore. This is a show for any one and everyone who loves action, drama, comedy and suspense all rolled into one glorious hour. Keifer was MADE/BORN for this role. Now Jack, how are you going to wow us this year?

HEROES should be number 1, with DEXTER at a close second.

The only show I watch on your list (and the only show period) is 24.

No one can stop the Bauer!!!!

What!, no House, House kicks all these shows ass.

24 at number 1 that show has become so formulaic it was already dead by season 3

Hi my name is Miley Cyrus. Yeah, I’m the real Miley. If you don;t believe me then i don’t care but I’m telling you I am.
So anyways, how come the show Hannah Montana and other shows from Disney Channel isn’t on this list. OMG, they are like the best shows!!! So why isn’t on here? So that leaves the mystery.......

The Best Shows of the moment : Heroes, Lost, Prison Break, Desperate Housewives and Smallville !!!

Marc Posted by Marc on 11/14/2007, 06:46 PM

I have no idea why this article is so popular again, seeing as the Best of 2007 will be coming soon, but in retrospect, 24 was terrible last year, as was Jericho and Grey’s Anatomy. Smallville was okay but nowhere close to a top ten.

Battlestar should have absolutely been at or near the top though.

Chris Williams Posted by Chris Williams on 11/14/2007, 11:02 PM

It’s one of our top rated articles as well, next to Torture Porn, The best Songs of 2006, some interview with Jenna Dewan and top movies.  I guess we hit all the key words.

Where the hell it’s Prison Break? ? ?

Posted by Cam on 03/08/2008, 06:25 PM

Nip/tuck and Dexter should be up there.

Wow, where’s Las Vegas?? That’s the only TV series I actually watched.
