The second of the three volumes of Black Blood Brothers picks up the morning after Mimiko, the compromiser, invites Jiro, the Silver Blade, an old blood vampire, and his brother Kotaro into the Special Zone.  But things are not settled down for the brothers; in fact, the action is only getting started.

The Company knows that the Silver Blade has arrived in the Special Zone and the head council is worried that this will stir up tensions, and harm the tenuous balance between humans and vampires within the city. To make matters worse, all the houses reject Jiro and Kotaro when they request housing, leaving the brothers and Mimiko homeless and in danger from a renegade group of vampires formerly under the control of Zelman Clock, one of the oldest of the old blood vampires.  Zelman invites Jiro to join his crew, a request that Jiro declines.

Jiro later finds that Cain Warlock and Sei, old acquaintances are apart of the Company’s council that rules over the Special Zone.  This council told the houses in the Special Zone to reject Jiro and Kotaro in order to persuade them to leave.  There is also something even more sinister afoot, but this volume leaves that to be discovered.

Add to the their homelessness the fact that the Kowloon Children within the Special Zone also know of the presence of the Silver Blade, and are not shy about wanting to engage Jiro in combat.  After fending off Zelman’s former crew, Jiro must defend himself against his nemesis Cassa’s younger brother who has something to prove.  Cassa, with help, is preparing to enter the Special Zone, knowing that Jiro and Kotaro are already there.

Volume 2 of the Black Blood Brothers saga also provides more information, through flashbacks, into the nature of Jiro’s relationship with Alice Eve, and ultimately Kotaro.  Similarly, the episodes hint at a little known ability of old blood vampires: reincarnation.  Ultimately, Volume 2 leaves you wanting more.
