Paris Moon is full of musical passion.

It’s been 10 years since Deep Purple/Rainbow guitarist, Ritchie Blackmore, eschewed the modern rock world. He teamed up with a gorgeous blonde who has the voice of a nightingale named Candice Night and they began making their own brand of Renaissance music, combining electric instruments as well as both modern and antiquated acoustic instruments. They called themselves Blackmore’s Night and have had success ever since.

For the first time in the decade they have been together, the band of minstrels went to France, recording the event and releasing a CD/DVD double-disc package called Paris Moon. This isn’t their first live release or DVD release, but it is certainly an entertaining show.

The CD contains 9 live tracks plus two bonus tracks: “The Village Lanterne “ (studio version) & “All Because Of You” (radio edit). The live tracks range through the history of their discography.

The DVD has 20 songs and is filled with Night’s playful banter, a stage show unlike what most Renaissance bands use and a nice look at all of the unusual stringed instruments, woodwinds and the hurdy-gurdy. In addition to the show, there is a slide show in the bonus section as well as an interview that’s almost 9 minutes long.  The video portion of the concert is just over 2 hours.

The DVD gives you the option of Dolby 5.1, DTS or 2.0 stereo. With the high production values of the discs, Paris Moon makes for a nice addition to any fan’s collection or as a great way to introduce someone to the band and give him or her a feel for what Blackmore’s Night is all about.

This is a stunning package...every second is wonderful.
After seeing Blackmores Night “live” in Birmingham June 07 it is a perfect way of remembering a show that will stay with me for evermore.
Thankyou Ritchie & Candice.

This is a great package. Anyone even remotely interested in the band or this style of music should add this to their collection. They won’t be disappointed.
