Watch for this group.
This self-titled indie rock release from San Antonio-based Blowing Trees is going to break the band onto the national music scene in a big way.
This group is on the cutting edge of the market, strategically using vocals, flutes, choir, piano, bass and guitars to create a unique sound appealing to 18 to 30 year olds. Their swinging rendition of “The Day the World Left Me” is going to be a huge hit because of the beat and the chance to dance to the music.
Their music ranges from ballads to kick-ass-good melodies like “California Skies” that’ll have you tapping your feet whether you want to or not. The choruses are so good you may just chime in and join them. Most of the tunes on this disc are ballads and rock. You’ll like the sound and harmonies. The slower ones are easy to listen to if you’re reading something at the same time.
The group, composed of four men with guitars and a bassist, have a strong commitment to one thing: staying close to the ties that brought them together and developing a fan base for live performances right in San Antonio instead of the usual on-the-road brand of band. They want a strong local audience and following first before going on a US tour. The men have been together for five years touring the San Antonio area and are making quite a name for themselves.
I look forward to this group doing some great things with their music. I don’t think it will be long before they’ll be known nationally and win acclaim for their beat and original tunes. There’s nothing garish about this group. All they want to do is entertain. Their motto: “All you need is love, and the times they are a changing.”
