Hmmmmm good!
“Rock My World” rocks! If you want dance party music where you throw back the rug and move the furniture, this is it.
The former front man of 80’s pop-metal band Poison, Bret Michaels, has been around the music scene for the last 20 years and recorded at least seven albums. My 19-year-old nephew even recognizes his name, is familiar with his music and likes him. Bret’s voice is still strong and stands above the guitars and other instruments in the band. The twelve tracks on the CD will leave you pooped by the time you’ve danced to all of them. There are no screaming guitars and Bret doesn’t scream his lyrics. This is a laid back album that is enjoyable to hear.
Michaels has numerous web sites where you can find out all about him. They are: http://myspace.com/bretmichaels, http://bretmichaels.com and bretmichaels.tv. He’s associated with a camp for young diabetes sufferers and even has a letter from one of them that is posted on his web site (the .com one).
He’s a guitarist in his own right but even having a guitar around his neck does not overpower his voice. The lyrics are simple and I have no problem understanding every word he sang. Unlike some groups that depend on drums and guitars to blare and keep the beat going, Bret sets his own beat with a pure sound that comes across from that strong voice.
I totally enjoyed the album and am glad I have it in my collection. Every song is unique and you won’t be concentrating on anything else than this music. The lyrics are included in the booklet with the CD so you can sing along with Bret as he performs “Go That Far,” “Driven,” “Raine,” and all the others that make up this album.
So, set aside some time to listen. You won’t be disappointed with the music or the artist.
