Marvel may not be calling Bullet Points a “What If?” story, but it’s close enough for government work. In this first issue, we see the government trying to develop a super serum to use on 4F soldiers. But due to the cause and effect of one bullet, the project gets scrapped, letting down the hopes of one scrawny kid named Steve Rogers who has been waiting in line overnight to make sure he would be the first to be the military’s guinea pig so he can serve the good ol’ USA. As a matter of fact, when the scientist who developed the project is shot, an M.P. by the name of Parker gets killed in the incident., but that comes into play for the second storyline.
Steve is given the option of being grafted into a metal suit and having this mechanical heart attached. The heavy, clunky suit makes him into the first Iron Man, a metal being who can withstand blasts & bullets while having his own arsenal at hand.
Then, some kids who dodged out of school steal a vehicle. One of the kids happens to also be a Parker. Turns out the vehicle is low on fuel and leaves them stranded. Parker is forced to go find gas and finds himself on a test range where a gamma radiation bomb blows up. I wonder if that’ll turn him into Lockjaw?
Interesting concept with some decent art. Not much of a mystery here with any of the characters so far, but it may be a fun little mini series.
