Movies: Film Festival:: 1 comments: by Susan Kandell
Just the night before, Coraline strolled down the red carpet (she had help, of course!), but tonight it’s all about Henry.
You know him for his feature film directorial projects, including the iconic Nightmare Before Christmas and James and the Giant Peach, but he was also the director, production designer and screenplay adapter for Coraline. In case you weren’t aware, that was the very first stop-motion animated feature film ever produced in stereoscopic-3-D. (Now you know!) Selick has won (as you can imagine) numerous awards and established his reputation as on of the leading directors working in animation today.
Selick will be awarded the Texas Avery Animation Award tonight at the Nasher Sculpture Center. The award is presented by Reel FX Entertainment.
Back to the festival screenings (isn’t that why you came?)
There are not many times in life when you’ll get a second chance – but tomorrow will be your lucky day. If you missed Americana, Art & Copy, Empty Nest, Crude, Against the Current and Like Dandelion Dust, they are all scheduled for their second screening TODAY! What are you waiting for – an engraved invitation? Go fest!
