Destined for an Early Grave by Jeaniene Frost

Don’t let Jeaniene’s name fool you, her writing is Wicked Hot! Her Night Huntress series starring Cat Crawfield will have you reading into the wee hours of the night. Cat isn’t your average vampire hunter. She is actually half-vampire herself. Since the day her mother told her where she came from Cat has been determined to get revenge for her mother’s mistreatment. Cat’s sole goal is to rid the world of all blood sucking fiends. With some kind of luck Cat managed not to get killed early on and was even luckier to run into Bones. Bones is a super sexy beast of a vampire. When Cat fails to kill him they made an agreement that she would work for him and kill his vampire targets. Over time Cat began to fall for Bones. Even after she realized she had feelings for him it took her an even longer time to really trust him. Her ingrained prejudice against all vampires put a lot of bumps and bruises in their relationship. By the time you get to Destined for an Early Grave   Cat and Bones are engaged and after fighting against an ancient vampire they need some time for relaxation. Too bad nothing is ever as simple as that.

Cat’s dreaming about another man named Gregor. Gregor is a very strong vampire, stronger then Bones, and he claims to be married to Cat! Without any real reason why Cat decides that her and Bones should vacation in Paris. Their stay starts out pleasant enough until the end of the night when vampires attack Cat and Bones and ruin their romantic vacation together. Gregor, the man from Cats dreams is real and he’s sent a challenge to Bones. Did Cat really marry another vampire before she met Bones? If she did, by vampire law Gregor can kill Bones! What will Cat do?

I love love love Cat and Bones! This book especially put a huge strain on their relationship and really made them fight for each other. It’s one thing to be true to one another when you’re always together but a completely different obstacle when you’re far apart. Triple the trouble when rumors and misunderstandings make you question the words of your love. I spent so much of the book gripping the arm of the couch, biting my nails, and crying from all the nervous sad twists that appeared with every turn of every page. There were so many times that each of them were trying to protect each other and just ending up messing things up worse or causing them to lose trust in each other. After the final paragraph I was so revved up I couldn’t sleep! I should have been able to; I read the whole book in one sitting refusing to put the book down. It’s dangerous to read and walk but I did it for Cat. I can’t wait for the next installment. Want want want!!!!

If you haven’t read the other books in the series you definitely want to get your hands on those first. It’s worth it but be prepared to not be able to put them down. Every time I started one I was unable to do anything else until I finished the story. Frost’s writing is addictive and lights a fire that lasts well after the last page.
