On the trail of a killer cop, Dexter finds himself with the tables turned on him!

What happens when the hunters become the hunted? Well we find out in this episode of Dexter.  This go round Dexter (Michael C. Hall) finds out when his latest victim turns the tables on him. Dexter finds himself on the trail of a female cop who killed her family and tried to pin it on a drug dealer that she had a previous confrontation with.

One of Dexter’s fellow forensics experts puts him on the hunt unknowingly. Dexter attends an open house the cop has to sell her house. Dex finds the evidence needed to assure her guilt while casing the house. One of the cop’s friends in the police department lets her know that Dexter is poking around in the case. She proceeds to harass Dexter warning him to let it go. The ghost of Harry (James Remar), for once, counsels Dexter to go after her to shake her into coming after him instead of laying low. Dexter provokes her into breaking into his house after him. Dexter being prepared lies in wait for her, then does what he does best.

In that case turning the tables worked, but later in the episode, it meets with tragic results.  Detective Quinn’s (Desmond Harrington) reporter girlfriend Christine (Courtney Ford) writes a story in her paper using information that Quinn told her off the record as pillow talk about Special Agent Lundy’s search for the Trinity Killer.  Trinity (John Lithgow) gets a look at his pursuer and then proceeds to stalk Lundy (Keith Carridine). Trinity bumps into Lundy out in public, setting off warning bells in Lundy’s head. Lundy pulls out his tape recorder and starts recording his impressions of the man after he leaves on a bus, but goes on his way. Lundy and Dexter’s sister Deborah (Jennifer Carpenter)  finally give into their feelings for each other and decide they really do want to be together again.  As the two finally reconnect, they walk out to their cars and instead find themselves separated in a very big way.

Ending with a bang, this episode of Dexter underlines one of the main themes of the show. That anytime Dexter or any of the other characters attempts to connect with others that it’s doomed to fall apart. The end of this episode serves to put an exclamation point on the moral of the story, making a decent watch into a great episode on the strength of the ending alone.
