Fools Rush In – A Christy Bristol Astology Mystery by Sunny Frazier is a feast of an adventure that delves into two worlds: the criminal minds of drug dealers and using astrology to chart certain peoples’ futures.
Christy is single, shares her apartment with a woman name Lennie and works for the police department in a small town. She is coaxed into creating an astrological chart by Detective Wolfe—a brazen character if there ever was one—for a drug dealer named Lloyd Parr. He’s the underbelly of all that is rancorous to Christy, yet she proceeds with the charting and then accompanies Wolfe on the mission to deliver the chart to Parr. Christy is sort of coerced into being the person chosen to place the chart and all accompanying documents in Parr’s mailbox. But something goes awry and Parr—along with his accomplices—abducts Christy because he is intrigued by her astrological reading and is hungry for more information about himself.
Frazier uses a lot of astrological terms as a background for this novel which moves swiftly from one chapter into the next. There are many turns and snares along the way until we reach the end of the novel when Christy’s life becomes meaningless to her captors and fears losing her life. All over astrology. The author is very deft at telling this story with a police backdrop and astrology as the crutch to hold it in place.
I was not bored, not for an instant. And, neither will you. This is fast-paced, action adventure at its best. With this winner under Frazier’s belt, I look forward to following more stories about Christy Bristol in the future. Thumbs up on this well written novel!
