Nathan’s conscience take a dive as madman Sylar steals the power to explode in the next to last episode of the NBC phenomenon.

These two power-hungry heroes are on a collision course that will change the world forever – unless the heroes can stop them.

In his office, Nathan faces sliding polls. The election appears lost. Linderman tells Nathan it’s all taken care of and that Nathan will run the country. Nathan, still grappling with the fact that this fate can only happen with the deaths of thousands of New Yorkers. According to the slick-tongued millionaire, Nathan’s father was part of an earlier fight to bring the world together, but Nathan’s father was weak and lost hope after failed attempts. Nathan defends his father, but before they can argue further, his wife interrupts. She does not like Linderman. Linderman grabs her hand and says he has something special for her – the gift that keeps on giving. Remember, he sent his goons to pound on Nathan’s car while they were driving, and caused an accident that left his wife paralyzed. Linderman uses his healing powers to heal her. They don’t discover it until she and Nathan are arguing and her foot moves. He tells her to keep it a secret until after the election. Hm…

After more down-on-his-luck talk from Hiro, the time-stopping hero and his friend, Ando, try to find a shop to fix his sword. Along the way, they run into Nathan Petrelli, hot on the campaign trail in a fixed election. Hiro asks Nathan for help, but Nathan, who has made his choice to allow New York citizens to be murdered in his quest for the presidency, tries to dash Hiro’s notion that the world can be saved. Hiro is stunned. He and Ando finally find a shop that can repair the ancient sword. Hiro’s father is there. They need to talk, he says. Ando tells Hiro not to fall for any tricks and to concentrate on saving the world, not his father’s lack of confidence in his son. Out of respect for his father, Hiro goes behind closed doors to talk to him. Big Daddy tells Hiro he has grown into his destiny. He pulls out a mega sword and teaches Hiro how to really fight so he can beat Sylar. This lesson isn’t just about skill; it’s about teaching Hiro that the things worth fighting for are worth dying for. Hiro’s father mentions that he fought long ago to bright the people together, which makes me wonder if he knew Nathan’s father.

Liquid Logixx, Dallas, Texas

In New York, Bennett decides that Peter and Sprague need to leave. Now. He’s going to send them with Claire to a town in Nebraska. But as the trio sets to leave, Peter realizes Sylar is following them. They try to hide, but Sylar is on to them and calls in a tip to the FBI, who are trailing the nuclear Sprague, a suspected terrorist. Peter uses his invisibility to hide himself and Claire. They try to get out of town, but come onto a car accident.

Sylar attacked the FBI van with Sprague and stole the man’s powers. Now, he’s ready to go BOOM for Monday night’s finale. Of course, I wonder if he needs Claire’s powers first so he can regenerate after the bomb.

In other Heroes news:
• Bennett and Parkman go to Linderman’s building to destroy the tracking system. Bennett kills former friend and agent Thompson and leads Parkman to the room. The tracking system is little Molly, the girl Mohinder is trying to save. Parkman saved her in a previous episode. Bennett didn’t know it was a child. He and Parkman argue. Mohinder knocks Parkman out and points a gun at Bennett, who keeps his weapon trained on the girl. They are in a standoff that won’t end until next week.
• Ando gets tired of waiting for Hiro, whom he thinks has decided to not save the world at the orders of his father. Ando decides to kill Sylar himself. Hiro finds out after his sword lesson and goes after his friend. Ando is dead in the future and is no match for Sylar.
• Jessica and DL break into Linderman’s building and run into Parkman and Bennett. Bennett tells them where to find Linderman, who is waiting with a load of cash. He’s talking to someone on the phone about getting the Petrelli family out of NYC before the bomb. The duo enter and tell him they want Micah. Linderman pulls out the cash to tempt Jessica, and she wants to take it and kill DL, as instructed by Linderman, but Nikki won’t allow it. She comes out (bad timing to have the wimp in charge, if you ask me). Nikki takes over her body. Linderman gets angry and tries to shoot her, but DL steps up and gets shot. He is down and, as Linderman is about to pull the trigger on Nikki, DL is up and rips out part of Linderman’s brain. Can the healer heal himself? We won’t know until next week. DL is dead, and we are closer to the terrifying future we saw a few episodes ago in which DL and Micah were killed in NYC.
• Shapeshifter Candace takes Micah to the polls. Micah’s gift is to talk with electronics. He fixes the election so it is a landslide for Nathan.

This episode was great except for Hiro’s constant doubts of himself. He’s a HERO. He lacks the confidence to pursue his destiny. After all, it is all he talked about at first. It seems with every crisis he questions himself silly. It is Ando who always keeps his spirits high – until Hiro’s Daddy teaches him that he must believe in something enough to die for it. Hiro is a great character. I’m ready for him to start coming into his own. Linderman was a lot like the Emperor from Star Wars as the deadly powerful Jedi tried to talk Luke into taking his father’s place.

All I can say is, I can’t wait for Monday.
