Hex in High Heels by Linda Wisdom

Fun, flirty, with a dash of sex appeal, danger and a double dose of witchy magic, Hex in High Heels is a delicious must-read for the lighthearted paranormal fan.

Exiled witch Blaire Fitzpatrick has a flare for casting revenge spells. She only does them in dire situations were the party deserves a little comeuppance.

The redhead - one of 13 witches kicked out of the academy hundreds of years ago - is fiercely attracted to hunky local carpenter Jake Harrison, a Were who loves to shed on her bed in doggie form. His instincts are finely tuned to witch Blair. She is his mate, though legend says that Weres and witches don’t mix. Of course, his past keeps Jake from taking the plunge with the lovely magic-maker.

When Jake’s old Pack arrives in town, his brother is now second in command, with Jake’s vicious mother running things behind the scenes. They want Jake dead and pull some dirty little tricks to make it happen.

Blair rescues Jake from near death and is determined to get the Pack back for what they did to him. At the same time, she has to fight off their aggressive maneuvers to get the witches’ land for hunting ground.

The Pack, it seems, just doesn’t know how tough these lovely ladies of magic are.

Hex in High Heels is a fun jaunt into the magically delicious world of witches who use their talents to make the world a little better place - and to exact a little revenge at the same time. (What witchy woman wouldn’t love that combination?) Wisdom’s lighthearted approach to paranormal romance is a welcome change from the super serious serials packed with so much danger and tension you don’t smile for days afterward.

This is the fourth book in Wisdom’s sexy, hexy witch series. The first few chapters - for me, at least - were a sort of catch up on what happened in previous books. After a bit, I really grooved with the story and characters - and wondered a bit about the monster in the lake. (Who wouldn’t?)

The first two books in the series feature Jazz and Nick. The third, Wicked my Any Other Name, features Trevor and Stasi, who is Blair’s roommate and best friend.

One of the funniest parts of this book were the magic bunny slippers. These demonic little fur balls wreak havoc wherever they go. They turn themselves into a tattoo on Blair’s ankle and stick around for all the fun. They add a touch of unique laughters to Hex - and all the Wisdom witch novels.

I’m really excited to read all the stories - and romantic endings - for all 13 witches expelled and exiled to the “real” world. Wisdom has this genuine writing style that makes me laugh, keeps me on my toes and leaves me begging for more.

Hex in High Heels is cute, sexy fun for the lighthearted paranormal reader.
