In I’s you follow the ups and downs of Ichitaka Seto’s love life. Seto is in love and he doesn’t know how to confess it. Iori has her heart set on becoming a serious actress. Itsuki sculpts props for movie sets. These are the main characters of I’s. Their journey together is sweet and will leave you with a smile and a full supply of romantic day dreams.
What’s great about this show is that it’s a good story for men and women. It’s a love story told from the point of view of sensitive guy Seto. He’s very afraid of being rejected and while he has fallen in love with Iori from afar he hasn’t gotten the courage to tell her. In disk one the story switches back and forth from the present to the past until they met up again and then continue on with the story. The build up of the story is with Seto trying over and over again to confess to Iori his love for her but always chickens out and she constantly feels like he hates her. Even when fate intervenes and gives him the chance to talk her he still can’t get the right words out. How can these two ever get together? To make matters worse Seto’s childhood friend, Itsuki, shows up in his house unexpectedly and she plans to make Seto her own! Luckily for Seto he has good friends all around him that are interested in helping him make his dreams come true.
What I loved most about disc one was that at the end of each episode you get a peek at Seto’s secret fantasies about all the lovely women in his life. Any guy could probably relate to those short little scenes and any girl can’t help but laugh, they may be a bit perverted but they are funny! Love love love!
Disc two is a short film that covers a summer during the original series. All three I’s end up at a mysterious island together. There’s danger, love, and sweet personal moments to be shared. Seto has to save both girls from mortal danger but ask him to tell a girl he loves her and he’s down for the count. Poor Seto! At least a few older women fight over his attention in cute bikini’s at a pool.
Give I’s a shot, you’ll love it. It’s not super long so you could easily watch the whole thing in one day if you wanted and the episodes for at least half the first disk could be watched at random just when you feel like seeing cute girls and boys blushing trying desperately not to be tongue-tied. The art is pretty and the fan service is nice with out being too much. You get both Japanese and English voice cast as well as subtitles. The disc’s themselves are not actually labeled which is kind of annoying. The disc with Iori on the front is the series and the one with Itsuki on the front is the OVA. There are no special features but for me that isn’t a down side. I never like watching them so that’s cool with me maybe not for you. One last thought for you, Teddy Bear Panties. Yeah their in there!
