The Strand Prophecy by J.B.B. Winner

The Strand Prophecy launches an evolutionary adventure through the future of mankind.

J.B.B. Winner is not one author but three collaborators.  This surprise hit the writing world as the debut novel The Strand Prophecy introduced two young girls, not quite teens at the time of the writing, and their father.  At times the heavy use of passive verbs revealed their age, but the imagination at work baffled even me.  All the elements of a great story are in place, propelling the reader through relationships and conflict like a stone out of a slingshot.

The book begins with a message to the White House: a huge jump in evolution is about to begin and the world needs to prepare for the changes.  A man delivers the message, a man with powers well beyond what the world has seen before: Strand.  Stand is one-part real human and one-part strands of computer blended into his brain and spinal chord.  When the White House refuses his prophesy, he moves onward, searching the world for the powerful surges of evolution to protect humanity from the results.

The Strand Prophecy is aimed at the young sci/fi reader, but I think almost anyone in the young adult age group will enjoy this novel.  It also features artwork by Daniel Gerardo, a powerful element to the adventure.

Despite the heavy use of passive voice, which at times makes it unwieldy, I enjoyed this read. With the imagination of these young authors on display, I look forward to the sequel with interest.  Hopefully, the next book will fine-tune the writing ability of the authors J.B.B. Winner, because I’m looking forward to an even faster missile flight.
