“Sedition” played out with twists and turns though some of the twists seemed a little loopy.

As the town of Jericho moves toward revolution, Jake endures torture when the military comes down on the Rangers for the death of Goetz.  Skeet Ulrich does a fine job playing Jake through the torture, making up with facial expressions for what the make-up department forgot to do: beat him up.

A few well-played tactical moves impressed me, like Jake turning himself over to Beck in front of everyone, knowing that the Major would react with force and instigate the town toward rebellion.  I loved Pamela Reed’s reentrance into the game, telling him loudly to give in and whispering not to give up.  The writers set up a great scene with the Rangers as Jake’s mom figures out where he was located.  I’m glad she took time off from Eli Stone to give Jake some guidance.

A few details during the action frustrated me.  While Mimi and Stanley’s scene was fastidious, the obvious was overlooked.  Mimi would have been followed as the number one link to Stanley.  I also found it impossible to take in that Beck would get Hawkins so quickly and then Hawkins would return to Jericho on foot just as fast as his SUV took him away, in fact, just as fast as Beck’s Hummer brought him back into Jericho to discover the revolution.

And didn’t the revolution begin before he left to recover the bomb?  Seems to me, he would have been briefed on the revolution before receiving the phone call from John Smith.  These details appear sloppy; as if the producers have disregarded plausibility just to keep the pace of action moving, thereby cramming a square peg into a round hole.

However, the overall story did progress and catch me up in its clutches.  I love how Heather and Jake are moving toward the turning of Major Beck.  I would really enjoy seeing him become a primary player on their side in the final battle.  And I would love to see the final battle involve all the characters they are grooming toward greatness.  We will find out.  I’m afraid they’ll get our hopes up and then have Jake and Hawkins play out the dynamic duo.  They do not have my trust.
