Arielle Kebbel (Univited, Freakdog, Grudge 2) joins Vampire Diaries this week as Lexi, Stefan’s death-long best friend. Apparently she has hopped in to help Stefan celebrate his 162nd birthday.
Lexi is a fantastic addition to an otherwise moody episode. She is animated, pleasant and has nothing but Stefan’s fun at heart. And get this, she isn’t the some new love- triangle-old-girlfriend-bitch-plot-twist that the show really doesn’t need right now. She actually encourages the budding romantics and helps them reconnect!
Lexi isn’t even remotely moved my Damon. She can’t stand him! Sure, Lexi drinks human blood, but she is proof that you can lie somewhere in-between the two extremes and still be very cool. Damon, of course, can’t understand why she doesn’t like him.
{b}But no sweat of Damon’s back right? He has his own agenda after all.
Damon is slowly infiltrating the circle of vamp hunters. Did I say slowly? Hello no. Damon’s task is proving to be WAY too easy. The slightest hint that he knows about Uncle Zach’s vervine supply and they spill nearly everything. All of this without Damon having to hypnotize a single person (This is not a great example of the writers talents).
Damon again influences Caroline . He convinces Caroline to throw a party (as part of his “diabolical plot”) and to get his crystal back. When Caroline can’t retrieve the crystal, Damon verbally tears Caroline down. This causes Caroline to drink herself in to stupor and stumble into Matt’s arms. This scene (one of many)is worthy of the writers. Matt ends up having to literally carry Caroline home. Hey, they could make a cute couple!
Mean while Bonnie has popped back up and decides to shares her new talent with Elena. The witch has some pretty nifty spells! I was reminded that the show continually has some great visuals.
Have I talked about Replicant Jeremy…
Soon everyone is gathered for a party!
Some for Stefan, some for booze. Even Elena decides to show up despite her persistent moody demeanor. Things take a wicked turn when Damon, after not getting his crystal, loses his cool and jumps a couple outside the bar. Cops are involved and arrests are made….. I won’t go further, but damn it Damon, you are such an ass!
Once again Vampire Diaries pulls itself out of the angsty muck and gives us a fun and shocking episode.
Lexi makes it worth tuning in, and Damon makes it worth finishing.
It’s coming…
