Michael gets poisoned during a mission and has only hours left to complete the mission and get the antidote.
This episode starts out with Michael already in a mission to find a courier. He has been known to sell NSA secrets and courier weapons out of the country. They figure if they can capture him they can work their way up his clients list to bigger fish. Michael is in position and KITT aknowledges that he seems fatigued. Michael brushes it off and continues on. The team at HQ spot their courier and watch as he makes a drop. They then notice that he is being followed by what appears to be another government agency. The courier dupes them with a fake briefcase and we see him make the drop to a man in the parking deck. After handing over the item the man throws the courier in the back of a van. The man starts to fight back and goes to the front of the van to see who’s driving. When he sees the van is driving itself he is stunned and is then handcuffed. The guy in the back sits in down in the front seat and pulls off a mask. It’s Michael. The van then transforms into KITT.
Michael takes the courier back to HQ and they copy his voice, eyes, and face so Michael can pose as him for his next job which they find out is in half an hour. Sara comes out and reminds Michael that he is supposed to take her to a wedding that night. He says it should be an easy assignment and he will be back soon. He heads to the meeting and clears their eye and voice scans. They then give him the info to drop off but not before one of the men grab him from behind and injects him with something. They inform him that it’s an insurance policy and that he has been poisoned and it will take effect in 3 hours. If he makes the drop then they will give him the antidote. Michael returns to base and they have four minutes to go over the briefcase before he has to meet up for the drop. Inside they find a pass to a technology conference and a coat check ticket. Sara begins to look for a antidote as they took blood samples. Turns out it’s part poison and part truth serum.
Michael and KITT head off to make the drop. Michael is starting to feel the effects of the poison. He drops off the case and sits down on a bench. After closing his eyes he is told by KITT that the pick up has been made. Michael tries to locate the person so he can get a picture ID. He sees a woman with the briefcase and goes to take a picture when she turns around and takes his picture. She makes it to her car and the pursuit begins. KITT and Michael follow her but she begins to drive really fast. KITT informs Michael that there is a semi pulling out further up the road and that it is one hundred percent certain that she will impact. Michael tries to figure out how they can stop her but before they can do anything she swerves to miss the semi and flips her car. A quick look inside and Michael sees that she is now dead.
A stop at HQ and they determine that she was supposed to get the briefcase and then go to the technology conference to assasinate someone there using a synthetic gun with porcelien bullets. They determine the only way to get Michael’s antidote is to go through with the plan as well as they can so the buyer belives the assasination has taken place. Michael goes to the conference and uses his coat check ticket. He is given a purse and inside is a pair of contacts. he puts them in and it is a targeting program that will show him who is to be assasinated. Safe people are show as DISCARDED and the target is cleverly labeled as ASSASINATE. Michael shoots who turns out to be a CEO of a big technology company. He begins to try to escape the building with KITT telling him ways to get out. After the CEO is shot we see Zoe and Agent Rivai come over. Zoe whispers in the CEO’s ear to stay down and play along.
Michael is stumbling along trying to escape. Sara decides to grab what she has of the antidote and meet up with him to try and help him. KITT gets Michael out of the building and they escape disguised as a police car. Sara calls Michael and tells him that she is meeting up with him. He tells her that he loves her and slumps over in the seat. KITT informs Sara that Michael’s heart has stopped. They meet a few seconds later and Sara is able to use a deflibulator to bring Michael back. As soon as he is awake she tells him that they need to get back to HQ. He tells her that they have a lock on the cell phone of the man that hired the courier and that they need to intercept him. They forward the cell phone signal to the other agents and begin to pursue him. They chase him to a parking structure where a helicopter is about to land. If the buyer gets on it then Michael is dead. KITT chases them to the top of the parking deck and the men get out of the van and begin firing on KITT. The buyer is about to board the helicopter when a bunch of FBI cars show up. The helicopter takes off without the buyer and he is captured. Agent Rivai brings him over and demands the antidote stating that at the moment it’s attempted murder but that if Michael dies it would be the murder of a governement agent. Sara then pulls a gun on him and says if he doesn’t hand it over she will kill him. He pulls it out of his jacket and just as Sara is about to grab it he drops it on the ground shattering the bottle. Agent Rivai knocks him out. Sara soaks up what she can with her shirt and has KITT examine it. He tells her what is missing from her version of the antidote is some antigens that are present in people with type B blood. She then withdrawls some of her blood and has KITT synthesis what is needed. They inject Michael and try to revive him but he doesn’t respond. Next we see the screen go white and Sara is then standing on the beach. She looks into the sunset. Then we hear Michael tell her to move as she is in his sun. They talk about having a day off while Michael is recupperating. Michael apologizes for them missing the wedding and she says she only really wanted to go so they could dance. Sara’s phone goes off and we see it’s Agent Torres. They ignore it and start to dance on the beach. They are about to kiss when KITT patches Torres through. He informs them they have another mission. Back to work.
This episode I thought had great potential for a story but in all honesty it fell flat. No one on the team seemed all that concerned that Michael could easily die. After he was poisoned it was almost like business as usual. It didn’t make much sense. The only time anyone really seemed concerned is when his heart stopped. So I’m not sure if that’s just how much they care about their operatives or just bad acting and writing. The show really needs an injection of action and fun. I’ll be surprised if it makes it past mid season. And when most of your plot problems can be fixed with “Oh KITT can just analyze this and make an antidote.” then why not just do that to begin with? I understand the damn car is awesome but really when it can do anything it takes away from the tension. I just hope another version of KARR is on the horizon.

Well, it’s been given a full season order, so obviously someone’s watching.
