Mike and Zoe go undercover to find a terrorist cell in Baja.
Mike is teamed up with Zoe to go undercover in Baja to locate another undercover agent named Turner. He was supposed to meet with a terrorist cell, under the guise of a weapons trafficer, that was trying to bring some weapons into the country. After he went missing a recon team was sent in after him and they went missing as well. Turner had a homing becon implanted into his wrist and they are hoping with KITT using a frequency amplifier that they can locate him. Mike and Zoe go undercover as a newlywed couple to see if they can locate him. Mike confesses to not being comfortable in water while Zoe loves to surf. Mike thinks Zoe is taking the newlywed thing a little to seriously but Zoe tells him that as long as she keeps away from Tequila that she promises not to try anything. Not long after arriving in Baja KITT picks up the homing device and they follow a jeep up steep road. When they reach the top KITT detects a weapon locking onto them. A man jumps out of the jeep and fires a missle at them.
Of course all that happens is that KITT goes off the side of the mountain and lands in the ocean where they go into submarine mode. They get back to the beach and head back to their hotel. The next day they begin to ask around if anyone has seen Turner under the story that it’s Mike’s brother and they are looking for him. They find out from HQ that Turner may have jumped to the other side as he has withdrawn all his money from his bank account. While Mike is asking around three guys tell him to get off their beach and jump him. Mike fights back but gets over powered. Just then another guy comes to his rescue and chases the men away. Mike buys him a beer and the man introduces himself as Skylar. Mike, Zoe, and Skylar hang out for the rest of the night. Skyler notices Mike’s tattoo and asks him if he was in the military. Mike states that he was and Skylar tells him that he was as well but got out to live in paradise. Skylar invites them to go surfing the next day and heads home. Mike grabs his beer bottle and KITT checks his fingerprints. They find out that he was dishonerably discharged from the military along with his squad. They run a search and find out that they three guys that jumped Mike were also in Skylar’s squad and that it was a set up. They decide he must know where Turner is. Zoe implies that her and Mike could have a fun night together and told him that he should have kept her from the Tequila.
The next morning Mike is woken up by Sara knocking on his door with Billy in tow. They say that they were able to find in some old records that Turner had an implant put in his ear for a previous misson and that KITT might be able to focus in on that frequency. Just then Zoe sits up from under the covers of Mike’s bed. Mike tells Sara that nothing happened and Sara keeps telling him she doesn’t care but is obviously bothered. They decide that the best bet is to meet up with Skylar to see if they can determine where Turner is. At the beach Skylar takes Mike out to surf. When he is out in the water KITT tells Sara that he has a lock on Turner’s signal. Sara and Billy go to check it out. While out in the water Skylar and Mike are talking about how they want to retire when Skylar punches Mike and leaves him for a big wave to overtake him. Mike tries to ride the wave in but crashes. Sara then see Skylar come ashore and go into a motor home that they have determined that Turner must be hiding in. They use KITT’s systems to x-ray the motor home and hear the conversations going on inside. We find out that Turner and Skylar are working together and have some weapons inside. Before they can determine what the weapons KITT’s signals get jammed. Billy then goes to peek in the windows of the motor home to see what he can find out. He quickly sees that the weapons are missles that were made by Knight Industries for the government. Just as he is headed back to the car Skylar comes around the corner and Billy pretends to be looking for a bathroom. Zoe finds Mike on the beach and when Billy relays what he found they are requested to return to HQ.
The Justice Department won’t confirm that any weapons had gone missing but the team determines that the missles are very dangerous and KITT can’t withstand the weapons they have. Turner uses a security clearance to get by customs in San Diego and they are able to find out that they are planning on firing the missles at a nuclear power plant. If that happens it would be worse than Chernobyl. Mike gets in KITT and is ready to chase them down when both Sara and Zoe say they want to go as well. KITT pulls up in front of the motor home and Skylar pulls out a missle and gets ready to fire. KITT then turns and drives away as the group laughs at them. Mike pops up from behind and knocks out all of Skylar’s group but not before Skylar gets up on the motor home with a missle pointed at the nuclear power plant. Mike points a gun at him and tells him not to fire. Skylar then tells him he thought he looked familiar and claims to have run into him in Afgahnastan but that he was working with some other woman there. Obviously another clue to Mike’s missing memories. Skylar pulls the trigger and Mike immediately shoots him. The missle is headed for the power plant and Sara tells KITT to use his frequency amplifier to scramble the missle’s guidance system. It works but the missle turns back towards Mike. He tries to get Skylar to run but Skylar tells him he won’t run and is blown up with the motor home. The team returns with the rest of the weapons and the rest of Skylar’s crew is put in prison. Billy claims to have liked the field work and wants to do more of it.
This episode wasn’t horrible but was really just run of the mill. An influx of exciting episodes are needed if this show is going to continue. The little pieces of the mystery of Mike’s missing memories is a little exciting but not enough to hold this whole premise together. Hopefully something will be happening in the next few epsidoes. BUT it is nice to see some of the background characters like Zoe get a chance to shine in this episode.
