LOST (4.10) Something Nice Back Home

image

LOST producers continue their amazing social twists.

First let me say I’m enjoying Dan, Dan the Physicist Man.  The actor speaks subdued mumbo jumbo and still gets island mysteries across to us.  The brilliant and unwittingly funny character is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

The producers also twist the social plotting when Juliet creates a supply list to operate on Jack.  Sun declines to go get them because she doesn’t know what these supplies look like.  Dan, Dan The Physicist Man then offers to go.  But who trusts who?  Dan and Charlotte are part of the boat mercenaries.  Juliet is an “Other.” The alliances formed for temporary survival force trust, but Juliet emembers where she is and who she has become.  She offers up a gun.  She will allow Dan and Charlotte to help, but only under supervision of the Koreans.

The use of the fire alarm, beeping as the computer in the hatch once beeped was another eerie moment imbued by the writers, building up to a frightening instant of recognition.  This episode is full of heart thumps, jumps, surprises and of course questions.  With Jack’s condition worsening, Rose questions the island.  She as well as anyone knows that Jack should not be sick.

The plot thickens as Jack’s father emerges both on the island and in Jack’s future.  I’ve been telling my husband since Season One that Jack’s father was still there, waiting to emerge into a major Island player.

Matthew Fox and Evageline Lilly do a phenomenal job revealing the transitions from sorrow to happiness, from hope to love, and from love to insanity.

So here’s what I want to know?  How does future Kate get her moolah?  She had Aaron tucked away in a beautiful house most of us won’t be able to afford in retirement, let alone after we crawl off a haunted island and fight to stay out of jail.

So how does she make her money?  Hurley didn’t give it to her.  The house would have blown up by now. It’s not Jack’s money paying for the house.  Jack was just living there temporarily.  She bought him the razor.

I have to assume she’s got a job now, maybe as a trail guide at a national park, maybe tracking mountain lions outside the city limits. But she wouldn’t have had one while she fought through the trial.  So how could she afford paying a full time nanny from jail?  Possibly she received a settlement from Oceanic, bought and decorated the house, interviewed the nanny, all before they showed up to take her to jail.  Let’s all count her cash as it unfolds, shall we?
