LOST produces one of the best T.V. moments ever as John Locke completes his walkabout.
LOST producers and directors have this amazing ability to blend previous scenes with new footage so that you see the scene from a totally different perspective. This adds a depth to the show that blows me away. Tonight was no exception. I jumped out of my chair and bounced around the room I was so excited by the new revelations.
As Richard argghh Alpert puts together a pirate ship in a bottle (hmm, have I guessed correctly that he is a Pirate from the Black Rock?), Locke waltzes into the camp with a hog offering to the immortal. Asserting himself as leader, John leads Richard and Ben back into the jungle in the dead of night on a mission only the Island could have maneuvered. Both Ben and Richard are stunned by the events that unfold. So was I; hence the bouncing around the room by yours truly.
Doesn’t John look really good with the blue button down and that incredible look of confidence on his face?
Meanwhile, Faraday’s mum learns she shot her only son. Daddy Widmore may or may not have been in the loop but he allows Jack and Kate leeway to follow Eloise and Richard to the bomb. By the actress’s well-placed looks of astonishment and sorrow, I feel very much like trusting Eloise. Somehow, whatever the older version is up to, I believe it is an effort to stop some incredibly bad things from taking place. We shall see.
With one segment of the love pyramid headed off the Island with baby Miles and little “chocolate before dinner” Charlotte, I’m led to believe that possibly they have left for good, but there are the previews to tease me. Somehow the sub doesn’t get far. Sawyer’s Good riddance must not be firm enough.
Behind the scenes the makeup artists churned out the blood and bruises. This action packed snippet of time on the Island led all our favorites to get the snot beat out of them for the sake of information. They stood fast, giving me a few good scares along the way thanks to the cunning writing.
Hugo, however, did not stand fast. Though he did not face the fist, he could not match wits with Dr. Video Man. I don’t know which I love more: Dr. Chang’s moment of realization or the fact that this man from the outdated Dharma videos of season two has become a central component of the final seasons. Miles’ new take on life is endearing. He watches as Charlotte and baby Miles are sent away, only to return when handpicked by Widmore himself–as adults.
The season finale is rushing toward us. I still have so many questions! We still do not know the man behind Dharma, the shadowy figure in the window of the videos, but yet we do know who he is not. He is not Charles Widmore since Widmore is on the Island at the time of Dharma. We still do not know what has happened to Rose, Claire, and the missing survivors. We still don’t know if every single move that the time travelers make is part of what they already did that went awry or if those moves are about to change the time continuum. That very fact keeps us on the edge of our seat. This is television that explores the auras beyond brilliance.
