Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, George Jones, Kris Kirstofferson, Ryan Adams and Liza Minelli (Yes, I wrote that correctly) are some of the artists on the new soundtrack for the film “Lucky You.” Eclectic? Yes, but it all seems to work.

You can’t help but smile when listening to this CD. There’s Springsteen singing “Lucky Town” and Kris Kristofferson’s ode to growing older “They Ain’t Got ‘Em All.” There’s Bonnie Raitts sultry “Bartender’s Blues” and Bob Dylan had two cuts, “Like A Rolling Stone” and the new one, “Huck’s Tune.” Even film star Drew Barrymore’s on there with “The Cold Hard Truth.” George Jones croons “Choices” and “I Always Get Lucky with You,” while Minelli gives her rousing rendition of “Maybe this Time.” And last but not least, there’s Madeleine Peyroux’s “Dance Me to the End of Love.”

The eccentric mix of cuts makes this a fun road trip set of tunes, because each one is like a little surprise. Sometimes it’s a good surprise like Dylan’s “Huck’s Tune,” other times not so much.
