New Amsterdam once again woo-hoos.

Did you know Kristi Yamaguchi is one of my all time heroes?  I even remember that she once skated pairs and received fourth place at World’s.  I still havethe exhibition on video tape. She and her partner skated to “Starlight Express” and they wore pink with lots of glitter.  Then she gave up skating both categories and went for Gold in singles at the next Olympics.  I am right around her age and watched her life unfold at the same rate as mine.  Now she has two daughters and I have two sons. I’m watching Dancing With The Stars for the first time this year because of her.

She usually dances at the same time as New Amsterdam so I have missed her for the last three weeks.  Let me tell you.  Watching her online is not easy because I have to figure out where she danced and skip through all the other performances, listening to a dozen commercials as I pass.  Last night I decided to skip the first part of New Amsterdam in order to see Kristi dance.  She was beautiful!

I still caught what I missed of NA online. Let me tell you who else is beautiful: Nikolaj.  I also had to catch the ending online since our local station went out during the last scene.  Sara slaps, poof.  We lost picture.  AGGGHH!!!

The show was back in full swing, replenished with tension and historical moments.  Once again, kudos to the writers who entertained us with authentic period dialogue-"It’s only paste. It isn’t real."-and kudos to the costume designers who captivated me with the 1920’s.

So we’ve seen John Amsterdam shot a dozen times now.  It was funny to see this opening shot a con, even funnier to see his con man past coming to fruition in our time.  John Amsterdam’s history blazes on both sides of the law and makes him more intriguing a character.  How did the guy who shot a rapist 200 years ago turn con man by the 1920’s?  The producers also tossed us back into his present life with little hesitation toward the last shooting incidence. It works.  No long drawn out rehabilitation with similarly drawn out conversations.  Just a man caught in the throes of confusion and depression.  The tension is back.  Will he stay or will he go now?

I have to go.  I think I hear gunshots.  Whoa!  Just someone banging on a door across the street.  This is not the best neighborhood.
