Schoolgirl Report volumes 3 & 4

German softcore. Is there really anything more that needs to be said?

Quick: Name a film series that has had more than ten sequels. Godzilla? Sure, yeah. Not so many others. Well, we can add another to that list: Schoolgirl Report, a German series that ran no less than THIRTEEN films in the 1970s. They’re some of the most well-known of the softcore porn films from the era, and they’re finally getting released in the States thanks to Impulse Pictures. Volumes 1 and 2 already hit shelves sometime back, and now Volume 3: What Parents Find Unthinkable and Volume 4: What Drives Parents to Despair are hitting DVD shelves.

The set-up of the films is nominal at most. Each one is half-hazardly introduced in documentary style, trying to set up the film as such. That’s far from the truth and is simply just an excuse to pass the films off as “educational.” They’re mostly light-hearted fare (mostly, there are some occasional dark moments), which is kind of surprising for German softcore. The girls (all obviously much older than what they’re supposed to be) are worth watching, but the plots leave something to be desired. Between fake interviews in which people on the street give advice or opinions on sex, are segments in which older students get it on in anthologies.

The various plots in Volume 3 include a fairly dark for the series segment in which a girl gets raped and commits suicide. This isn’t really typical of Schoolgirl Report, which tries to stay a little more on the humorous side. That’s German cinema for you, I suppose. Of course, incest finds its way into the proceedings as well.

Volume 4 keeps mostly to formula, with one segment featuring a flunking math student trying find a way to get the professor to give her a passing grade. Interracial relationships are also explored, as is, yes, incest. That particular segment features the famous Christina Lindberg.

Again, there isn’t much substance to these films; they serve merely as vehicles for gratuitous nudity and simulated sex. Not, y’know, that there’s anything wrong with that.

The widescreen prints have nice colors, but there are very occasional scratches that keep them from being pristine. Neither DVD has any sort of special features.

The Schoolgirl Report films exist for the simple reason of providing naked, nubile young women on the screen. There’s not much more to them, but for that reason alone, they carry their duties quite well.
