This comic is very clever and is well drawn. You'll probably find yourself wanting to scroll back through the archives to see them all.

Slice of Life is made up of fun black and white stylized ink drawings. It blurs the line between comic and drawing, to a degree. I really enjoyed just how ferociously ugly some of the women were drawn. When called for, the drawing style lends itself to having very interesting backgrounds.

The style has a lot of those lines that goes thin to thick. This is very eye catching and holds your attention. One other neat side to this style is that it can sometimes act like a puzzle. One comic has the “face-hugger” from the Aliens movies and it doesn’t hit you right away. You see it, read the punchline and then glance back at the drawing. Boom! You get the joke. It’s sort of a visual spice.

The actual content of Slice of Life is full of funny situations. Some are oddities of daily life, others are wierd things that just happen sometimes. Still others deal with annoyances of today’s world. For example, signing a cel phone contract feels like you are making a deal with the devil. Or when you walk into the bank, the clerks glare at you like you’re trying to steal their master’s treasure. It makes you wonder why we tolerate such things when you see it served up that way.

There are also odd mental associations that frighteningly make sense when you stop and think about them - such as aliens having security systems built into their flying saucers. Beep Beep!  Often, the same topic runs on for a small number of strips and some themes repeat. There’s also a good one about having your skin being sent through the scanner at the airport while your bones have to walk through - you have to see that one to get the full effect. That’s one of those themes that makes more than one appearance. I’m sure that if you’ve ever flown the friendly skies you will agree with the viewpoint in the Slice of Life.

This comic is very clever and is well drawn. You’ll read some of the strips and find yourself thinking “Yes, that IS strange.” Others will have you laughing out loud and you’ll have a certain person you’ll want to share this comic with. You’ll probably find yourself wanting to scroll back through the archives to see them all.
