TV: Smallville:: 2 comments: by Christopher Valin
As usual, the season finale leaves us with many questions. Unfortunately, most of them aren’t the exciting, “What’s going to happen?” but rather “What were they thinking?” or just plain “Huh?”
Kara downs a plane just to get Teague to talk, and all she finds out is that Lex has the info she wants. She goes to Lex and tells him she’ll take him to the Fortress. But wait! It’s not even Kara, it’s Brainiac in disguise. Brainiac tries to kill Chloe, but can’t because she has some kind of shimmery anti-Brainiac power we’ve never seen before - but she does go into a coma. Clark offs Brainiac using electricity, then rushes off to the Fortress after Lana dumps him via video, because she’s off in another country filming a movie (oh, wait, that’s real life). Meanwhile, Jimmy tells Lex he’s not going to do his dirty work for him any more, so the Department of Domestic Security arrests Chloe as soon as she’s out of the hospital. At the Fortress, Lex plugs in the Clark-control device, then Clark shows up and reveals himself as the Traveler. Lex turns on the device, and the Fortress crumbles around them and disappears.
Here’s just a small sampling of the questions I have: Why did Brainiac have to pose as Kara to threaten Teague? Why not just be himself? And, if Brainiac took Kara’s place on Krypton and put her in the Phantom Zone instead of just controlling her, what was the deal with the whole passing out/dropping the milk bottle scene before? And who drinks milk out of a glass bottle anymore anyway? Why did electricity kill Brainiac, when that was exactly what he needed to recharge? Why is Lois just now discovering that Clark and Lex used to be friends? And why in the world would she think he’d want a job working for him at the Daily Planet? And, finally, with only the characters of Clark, Lois, and Jimmy returning next season, is it going to just be Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Smallville?
So the big payoff is that Lex learned Clark’s secret? YAWN. Been there. Done that. About seventeen quadrillion times. SOMETHING ALWAYS HAPPENS TO MAKE HIM FORGET. Otherwise, how would things work in the future? Superman’s arch-nemesis knows who he really is, but keeps it a secret? How would that work?
Or maybe we’re supposed to think that Clark and/or Lex are in some kind of mortal danger because the Fortress collapsed on them at the end? Hello…not only have characters died on this show and come back, but this is the story of a young Clark Kent and Lex Luthor before they became superhero and supervillain. So how can we believe they are dead?
And besides…Michael Rosenbaum isn’t coming back next season, so what difference does it make? Not only am I not looking forward to next season, I’m not even sure if I’m going to be watching it.

Ya know I forgot to set my DVR to record this and missed it, of course CW idiotically chooses to make this the only show that is not sold on iTunes and it’s not streamed on their website, so there’s no way I can see it without pirating.
Somehow, I can’t bring myself to care enough to do that.

I had the same problem when our electricity went out and I missed Fracture (which is why I had to ask you to review it). I can’t believe it’s not available anywhere legally.
As you can see, you didn’t miss much.
