Tangle is the story of a young girl named Nae who needs to save her home. The character page describes her this way: “She is the main character in our story. She certainly is one of the sweetest girls you could find on earth, if you manage to keep up with her volcanic temper… Aside from this little problem, she is the kind of person you can count on. As she lost her grandfather when she was only 6, she had to deal through life on her own. To her, life is an everyday fight.” She is accompanied by her ever hungry pet/companion Nyko and they travel to the big city to let the authorities know that the forest she lives in is in danger. She makes a few enemies and a few friends along the way.
Aside from a few cover pieces, Tangle is a monochromatic comic whose colors change as you progress through the episodes of the story. The art consists of what I typically describe as manga, with clean lines and lively expressions. There are good viewing angles in the panels and I enjoyed the judicious use of screen tones and the odd gradient.
It also has a layout where you click on the right to turn to the next page or left to turn back a page. It feels much more like a real comic when you read it than it does when you simply click on ‘next’ or ‘back.’
It is translated from French to English, so there is the odd choice of word sometimes but you’ll have no trouble understanding it. From reading some of the comments, it seems as if the initial print run of this comic is sold out. There is another episode yet to translate, so hopefully we’ll get to see the final chapter of Tangle.
