A few years after Jack had a run-in with Jonathan Barrett and the woman they both loved, Fleming receives a notice to attend a funeral for Maureen on Long Island, NY. Her body had disappeared, but Barrett has finally unearthed the remains. He realizes that Maureen loved them both in their own way at different times and knows that she would’ve wanted the two vampires to shake hands and honor her.

Once the funeral has happened, Fleming and Barrett are investigating the area where Maureen’s body had been found. While doing so they are ambushed and left for dead, the would-be killers unaware of the special condition that both men have. They begin tracking down their gunmen only to get caught up in a power struggle between a crime lord and one of his underlings. Fleming and Barrett must team up to survive as well as save Izzy, a poor girl caught up in the middle that Barrett has fallen for.

The ultimate team up seems like a quick no-brainer, but due to a couple of whacks with wooden objects and one opponent that is so large and has the strength of four men, each must fight his own battle most of the time. Some of the guys find that Fleming is a powerhouse, while others learn that Barrett, gentleman or not, is not someone to trifle with when he loses his temper.

This limited edition book of 3000 debuted at FenCon VI and was selling like hotcakes, so log on to get yours. The first 500 actually have a misprint on the spine but Elrod thought it was so cool that she left the error. You won’t be sorry and this is a must for any reader who collects either The Vampire Files or Jonathan Barrett, Gentleman Vampire series.
