Welcome To Pixelton is described as “A Town of Retired 8-bit Heroes.” There isn’t much more in the way of direct description anywhere I could find, but Pixelton is situated on a secluded tropical island, according to the comments. It’s a lighthearted work based on video game characters.
There are all sorts of details to appreciate about the characters, which I will try to summarize briefly. Fil is the green one, “a bit player in some of America’s most loved videogames.” After the early 80’s, he could not continue in the video game industry and moved on to other occupations. Part of what he did was work as a promoter for Kirby. Kirby is the fuzzy, orange ... rabbit, I think. He’s another veteran of the video game industry and both of them (along with all the other old generation video game characters) were hot shipped to Pixelton. Fil, seeing gold, opened the Pixelton Retirement Home. (You should actually read the history for yourself in the archives under ‘Career Change.’ It’s much more entertaining than my summary.)
The line work and bright colors really fit the video game concept. There’s great contrast, character expressions and crazy, crazy dialogue. In some of the later works, you can examine the separated line work and colors below the strips. There are even some videos of how the strips are made. What’s not to like there?
Welcome To Pixelton is zany, in an over the top kind of way. That might seem cliché at first glance, but you’ll quickly some to appreciate how deadly accurate it is. Be sure to read the comments below the strips, as they are as enjoyably wacky as the strip itself. Mr. Farkas makes regular reference to when he (someday) becomes King and the subsequent rewards he has in store for his fans and commenters. This is the only comic I can think of that would equate hippies and pirates and have it make any kind of sense. Moreover, one comic is a public service announcement about peer pressure and staying away from Mario’s magic mushrooms. You just can’t anticipate where it may go next.
Please note there are other “cheesy after school messages” along with hidden messages in code. I would say that this means we all will find something to enjoy in Welcome To Pixelton. But don’t take my word for it - see it for yourself.

Thank you so much delos - your review has made my week!
After spending 8 hours bleary eyed working on a new strip, this is probably the nicest thing one could stumble upon. :D

Josh,
I had to keep editing out references to all the great stuff you have in Pixelton. I found myself having to talk around and hint at things, instead of talk about them directly which is what I wanted to do. I didn’t want to give surprises away and spoil anything for anyone.
Keep up the good work.
