Billie Piper with Child

The Sun reports that Doctor Who companion favorite, Bile Piper, has gotten all preggers on us.  Three months in fact. She’s got an upcoming show about high-end escorts (low-end escorts would be called hookers I guess) where she’ll have to be in lingerie, so the growing gut thing will probably take some effort to hide with camera angles or Doctor Who FX?

Venture Brothers Season 3 premiers June 1 by Chris Williams: 04/03 at 12:21 PM

The blessing and the curse of LiveJournal has given me an insight to my favorite show and what to expect this summer.  Also, thank you, big-time film critic Alonso Duralde. We all missed the preview on Adult Swim on April Fools day.  It would have helped if they told us their programming, but that requires planning ahead.  I’ll check YouTube Later. The big details of the show’s future after the jump (of skip all this and go to the link above.  whatever.) What you need to know (besides Jackson Publick having a LiveJournal)... …

BSG Predictions: How will it end? by Chris Williams: 03/31 at 12:30 PM

Can't wait for Friday! Battlestar Galactica is coming back for one last blow out season. All will be revealed. Specifically, everything to hate about humanity while blowing s**t up at the time. Baltar's a Toaster? Who isn't. By now, I'm putting in the prediction that all the humans are the real cylons but they only realize it at the end like some sort of effed up M Night Shamalama twist. When Gedeon Maheux isn't rocking the icon world, he's reminding us what to love about pop-culture. Betting On Baltar: I know you’re thinking that he’s too obvious a choice to be the 12th Cylon, but deep down it makes perfect sense, and here’s why (Via gedblog)

South Park now streams full episodes for free by Chris Williams: 03/27 at 04:42 PM

Has Viacom finally woken up and smell the internet?  Is it a nafarious plot to get us hopeless addicted to little cartoons being contrarian?  Either way, I’ll take it.  hop over to southparkstudios.com and start watching your favorite full length *snicker* episodes of South Park for the last 12 seasons. “Trapped in the Closet” never gets old. Take that, L Ron Hubbard! (Via Mr. Sardonic)

iTunes gets Manga Entertainment shows by Chris Williams: 03/27 at 04:35 PM

Tokko, Noein, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex Season 1, and Tactics are now available for purchasing on the iTunes Music Store. Apple Insider reports iTMS began offering shows from Manga on Tuesday as well as Independent Film Channel and Starz. While finally reaching mass audiences through iTunes doesn’t exactly put GITS into the hands of every American (as it well should), it sure beats buy a poorly translated copy of the dvd from China on ebay.

Stephen Colbert puppet-in-progress by Chris Williams: 02/14 at 05:25 PM

This is an official project of Mr Colbert’s, but its a terrific idea. Stephen Colbert Puppet: Work on Brian Hogg’s Stephen Colbert Puppet Challenge seems to be progressing nicely (it’s an idea so crazy it just might work). Check out Brian’s Colbert puppet pics on Flickr. (Via PuppetVision Blog) Here, Brian slyly hints at a Steve Jobs and Stephen Colbert puppet.

Strike deal seen as raw deal by Chris Williams: 02/14 at 12:41 PM

Not everyone is very happy about the WGA strike settlement.  Harlan Ellison, writer for the original series of Star Trek, alleged woman groper, and notorious pirate talker, has a few choice words about the outcome. Creds: got here in 1962, written for just about everybody, won the Writers Guild Award four times for solo work, sat on the WGAw Board twice, worked on negotiating committees, and was out on the picket lines with my NICK COUNTER SLEEPS WITH THE FISHE$$$ sign. You may have heard my name. I am a Union guy, I am a Guild guy, I am loyal. I smurfin’ LOVE the Guild. And I voted NO on accepting this deal Also a nice YouTube vid of Ellison in action summing up, quite succinctly, a writer’s worth (plus some hot swearing). Full quote after the jump, Or on his online community site or from Warren Ellis’ site. HARLAN ELLISON ON THE WRITERS STRIKE SETTLEMENT YOU HAVE MY PERMISSION TO RE-POST THIS…

NBC Others consider suing WGA by Chris Williams: 02/13 at 03:44 PM

From the muckraking desk of Nikki Finke: "So what happened," an NBC source explains, "is a week and a half ago we were approached and asked, if they [the HFPA and Dick Clark Prods] decide to take legal action, would we join their lawsuits. And we said no. And that's it. But they did come to us." cited here. According to other sources, however, this wasn't entirely accurate. That is until Deadline Hollywood posted about the potential lawsuit on Tuesday. The hidden story in all of this is that a union an be sued for going on strike? Why stop at the Golden Globes? Why not sue a union for lost revenue? Why doesn't GE and Disney sue for all those shows they couldn't make?

Brenda Dickson is Back! by Chris Williams: 02/13 at 10:43 AM

You can’t keep a diva down.  Nor can you keep the Brenda Dickson parodies away.  This You Tube clip is a word for word parody of Brenda’s recent interview.  In it she mentions her desire to return to television.  I say let the lady on! Welcome to my interview! Read more to see the original interview.  Uncanny.

Madonna Passed on Doctor Role by Chris Williams: 12/21 at 06:00 AM

Was Lady Cassandra originally based on Madonna Ritchie? The Sun reports the story as strictly a rumor, but image a role that Madonna could play where the acting was an absolute minimum... still impossible. Doctor asks Madonna Who?: POP queen apparently bottled a chance to appear in the Doctor Who Christmas show ... Show boss RUSSELL T DAVIES said Cassandras were inspired by skinny Hollywood actresses who’ve had too much plastic surgery. Ahem... (Via The Sun.co.uk/TV) btw, The Sun's RSS feed is totally busted.

Dead Zone Dead by Marc: 12/20 at 08:24 AM

As an addendum to my last award-winning story, USA has decided to cancel The Dead Zone as well. Hey USA: suck it. Despite my juvenile retorts and despite my bitching about the show, TDZ is another one that deserves a wrap-up chance after six years. Yes, the last two seasons have been terrible and I've asked myself why I'm watching but it's the least of intensely self-referential personal questions I'm asking myself these days. I'll never understand why a network, after investing so many years and so many dollars, would just up and say, "Eh..." instead of giving them a wrap-up and promoting the jesus out of it for one final shot at ratings and, thus, money.

4400 Reclaimed by Future Selves by Marc: 12/20 at 08:10 AM

I woke up to the sad news this morning that USA Network's The 4400 has been canceled after four seasons. Dammit. This is a decision I don't understand for several reasons: 1. There's a strike on and USA (and parent company NBC-Universal) needs good TV shows. 2. 4400 was well into their mythology and deserves to finish it out, even with a TV movie 3. USA needs good TV shows 4. There's rarely anything good on in the summer 5. USA needs good TV shows 6. The Dead Zone needs to end 7. USA needs good TV shows 8. Monk ain't that great folks 9. USA needs good TV shows 10. Because the Bible tells me so. I shed a tear for thee, my alien abductee.

Project Runway’s Jack Mackenroth Interview by Chris Williams: 12/18 at 05:25 PM

Reality TV may be the only thing left to watch if this strike goes on much longer. Luckily, some of the contestants on those shows make the best characters. After Elton has a great three page interview with Jack Mackenroth. There's romance with a Top Chef contestant, a movie role, an full male nudity! I wouldn't lie to you would I?

Jennifer Saunders as Doctor Who by Chris Williams: 12/18 at 06:47 AM

"cribbins" posts on the Doctor Who LJ group about the possibility of Ab Fab's Jennifer Saunders to take the helm of Doctor Who. The Sun article being referenced states that our precious "Edina" is in talks with BBC to play the good doctor after Tenant leaves in 2009. Time and space is doomed if Patsy gets slated to be her companion. Additionaly, here is the YouTube trailer for the 2007 Christmas Special of Doctor Who: Voyage of The Damned.

Pushing Daisies grows some nice noms by Chris Williams: 12/13 at 07:22 PM

Bryan Fuller proves that good shows can grow and blume if given a chance. Note to FOX: you never should have cancelled Wonderfalls... or all the other shows that rocked. Daisies pushes through with three Golden Globe, two DGA noms: ABC's delectable Pushing Daisies, from out creator Bryan Fuller and openly gay executive producers Dan Jinks and Bruce Cohen, scored big Thursday with three Golden Globe nominations (for Best Comedy Series and lead actors Lee Pace and Anna Friel) and two WGA nominations (New Series and Episodic Comedy, the latter for its "Pie-lette" episode). A complete list of Globe nominees can be found here, and WGA nods are all listed here. (Via Mr. Sardonic)

“Hello” Model Judge, Twiggy, Says Goodbye by Chris Williams: 11/26 at 05:54 PM

Top Model judge and Fashion icon known might have been known saying "Hello" with a charming British accent each time she was introduced during her 4 season tenure, but she'll be replaced by Paulina Porizkova for cycle 10 due to scheduling conflicts. Let's all hope that the new Twiggy is a little less so and a little more Janice. Porizkova takes Twiggy's 'Top Model' spot: "America's Next Top Model" viewers will see a new face on the judging panel for the reality competition's next installment. Katie Bashes Dan by Chris Williams: 11/19 at 09:01 AM

God bless YouTube! Katie Couric takes shot at Dan Rather on YouTube: I used to be a director, so I saw anchors and reporters do and say lots on camera before a show. Well, with YouTube those behind-the-scenes moments tend to make it out. This Katie Couric clip was pretty funny… (Via Lost Remote.)

The Two Doctors by Chris Williams: 11/16 at 10:45 AM

From the white-on-rice-and-how-I'm-on-it department, BBC has a two timelords sharing the viewer tonight. Peter Davison and David Tennant have a special scene in a... special. 8pm, that's like 2pm my time, right? The Two Doctors: Many a Doctor Who fan’s favourite was Tom Baker. Maybe because he stayed in the job the longest, probably more likely that he simply excellent at the part. However, I think who you grow up with has a lot to do with it, and I grew up with Peter Davison, and he was by far my favourite. Unashamedly English in style, he was also the first ‘young doctor’ and there hasn’t really been another youthful one until David Tennant. So it’s pant-wettingly exciting that they are appearing together tonight, to say the least. Steven Moffat has written the scene (who consistently turns out the best stories for the last 3 seasons), and Graeme Harper, the veteran Who director is involved too. It may only last 5 minutes in the end, but everything points to good time. Tonight - Children in need, BBC1, somewhere between 8 and 8:30! (Via hicksdesign - journal.)

WGA Strike, Day 7 by Chris Williams: 11/12 at 09:04 AM

This day's WGA youtube video is brought to us by Joss Whedon, who hails from down under or is currently starring in the new Indiana Jones movie or something. Yes yes yes, Joss, we all agree you should get a cut of the money earned, I just want to see the part where a Kangaroo jumps into the shot, or maybe a didgeridoo in the background. One commenter explained his opening lines about an upcoing tv show, "Dollhouse is the new show that Whedon is developing with Eliza Dushku" Good to know! clicky for the viddy, mate!

Japanese 24 commercial by Chris Williams: 11/08 at 01:45 PM

I can't believe this isn't the theme in the US. In Japan, 24 Has a Theme Song, and It's Ridiculous [Jack-ah Bauer]: "24 is coming backmay or may not be coming back due to the strike, but there's a teaser freshly available on Xbox Live to whet your palate for yet another highly improbable, explosion-filled day, whenever it's coming. To give you an idea of what the show's like in the Far East, here are a couple of commercials for it from Japan featuring the Japan-only theme music. Yes, there are lyrics, and they include 'Ore wa Jack Bauer!' Why oh why is this song not played in the States? Hit the jump for a second ad. (Via Gizmodo.) Click the link for the show clip.
