CSI:NY Kicks off Season in a Fine Frenzy

Alison Sudol, aka A Fine Frenzy, will make her acting debut on the season opener for "CSI: NY," which airs tonight at 9pm on the CBS Channel 11. Sudol will also perform two songs: "Almost Lover," the lead single from One Cell in the Sea, A Fine Frenzy's debut, and "Last of Days," another track from the album. The episode entitled "Can You Hear Me Now" features an unusal investigation as Mac and the team find human blood on the crown of the Statue of Liberty, leading them on a race against time to save a famous musician from death at the hands of a vigilante. We don't know about her acting ability yet, but her music has certainly received rave reviews, "The melodies on this debut are breathless ... imbued with piano swells," said Entertainment Weekly. "Such attention to the dramatic works wonders on stripped-down tunes like 'Almost Lover,' which lets Sudol's delicate voice take center stage." The album earned a four-star review from Paste, which found it "bursting with talent" while Harp observed: "A Fine Frenzy is a blend of sounds and influences ... where there's Ella, Aretha and Louis, there's also Radiohead, Sigor Ros, Aqualung and Keane." Tune in tonight at 9PM on Channel 11.
